There may be times during your studies when circumstances beyond your control negatively impact on your academic performance. If you are affected by serious illness, an accident, or other serious and compelling life circumstances, then you might be eligible for Special Consideration of your assessment or exam. Special Consideration is an equity measure that ensures no student is disadvantaged by unforseeable circumstances.
Available for most assessment tasks, including individual examinations and assignments of all types, which are worth 15% or more of the total assessment for the subject concerned
Applied for online - this allows for documents to be uploaded, your application status to be tracked and online appeal lodgement
Referred to within La Trobe University's Special Consideration Policy - please ensure you aim to follow the procedures outlined within the policy.
If you have any difficulty with the Special Consideration process, the LTSU Advocacy service can help.
On Sunday, the National Union of Students (NUS) launched their #SaveOurStudents campaign with a list of six demands. The LTSU has begun pushing La Trobe University to meet us on some of these demands; namely, the call for fair assessment and grading for Semester 1 2020. However, this does not go far enough. Find out what your student representatives are proposing. >
