1. Start early, try not to cram!
Think of studying like baking a cake: you can’t just throw everything in the oven at the last minute and expect a masterpiece! Start studying early to let your knowledge rise nice and fluffy. Cramming is like trying to microwave a frozen pizza—disaster waiting to happen! Give yourself time to savor the material and enjoy the process.
2. Test yourself
Testing yourself is like playing a fun game with your brain. Grab some flashcards or quiz a friend—think of it as a friendly competition! Who knew learning could be a sport? Plus, it’s way more effective than staring at your notes and hoping they magically transfer to your brain. Spoiler alert: they won’t!
3. Find a study space
If you can, find a space that's just for studying. Head to the library and get a private study room where you might not be as distracted as in your bedroom where you suddenly have to reorganise your whole room! Right! Now!
Your study space should be like a cosy coffee shop minus the overpriced lattes. Find a spot that feels good—no distractions (sorry, TV!) and enough light to see those important notes. Make it your personal fortress of knowledge! A little motivation decor can help too—maybe some motivational cat posters or a picture of your future self celebrating your exam victory!
4. Use concentration tactics
To keep your focus sharp, try the Pomodoro Technique. It’s not about growing tomatoes, I promise! Study for 25 minutes, then take a 5-minute break—like a mini victory lap! Treat yourself to a snack or a quick dance party. Just make sure your dance moves are safe for study breaks and won’t knock over your notes!
5. Eat and sleep well
Feed your brain like it’s your favorite pet! Healthy snacks like fruits and nuts will keep you energised, while sugary treats can lead to a crash—like a rollercoaster ride with a surprise drop! And don’t forget sleep! Think of it as hitting the “reset” button on your brain. A well-rested mind is like a superhero ready to conquer those exams!

6. Try breathing exercises
When exam stress hits, just breathe! No, really—deep breaths can help you chill out. Try inhaling like you’re smelling a batch of fresh cookies and exhaling like you’re blowing out birthday candles. Practice these exercises often, so when exam day comes, you’re cool as a cucumber—just without the salad dressing!
These tips can help you study better and feel less stressed during exam time. Good luck!
What to do if something goes wrong before or during your exam?
If something goes wrong before one of your exams, keep a hold of evidence. If it is a medical or family emergency, try to get a certificate.
If it is a device or connection issue, take a screenshot that includes the date and time, contact Ask ICT, and your subject coordinator as soon as possible in writing so that you have evidence.
