Following the recent confirmation of a student contracting COVID-19 and the university’s ongoing advice, I wanted to reach out to all students to let you know that we are working with the university to keep student and staff safety at the forefront of everything we do.
It is important that whilst there is a case of COVID-19 within the university, it is a singular case and we must not panic. Here at La Trobe we are known for being a diverse and welcoming community; we must take care of each other. It’s important to check in on your mates during times like these but also to remember to look after yourself. If you don’t feel like coming to campus, then don’t. If you have concerns, there are dedicated resources like the Coronavirus Health Information Line on 1800 020 and their website linked HERE. If you feel ill or are experiencing symptoms consistent with Coronavirus, please call 1800 675 398 for further assistance. If you’re worried about your studies during this time, contact ASK La Trobe.
We don’t want anyone to feel alone, so if you’re feeling helpless or need some guidance please reach out to university services such as Speak Up and Counselling via this link.
I understand that you might be frustrated with the limited information that has been released, but I have been in daily contact with senior members of staff at LTU and am assured that all measures undertaken will diminish the risk of COVID-19 to our community.
If we are subjected to campus closures then unfortunately our events, shows, trips, etc. will have to either be postponed, rescheduled or cancelled. We will keep you updated as any changes come to light.
Please feel free to visit the current LTU website which can be accessed via this link.
