Statement from the LTSU Regarding the Polaris Incident

The La Trobe University Student Union was incredibly saddened to hear about the death of a young woman outside the Polaris shopping centre, near our Bundoora campus. We send our deepest condolences to all her friends and family.

At this time, we feel that it’s very important that all students are aware of the security and support services available at the University.

Support services, including Counselling and Speak Up, can be accessed here: https://www.latrobe.edu.au/students/support/wellbeing

The UNI-Safe Escort Service also has security officers available after dark to escort students and staff across campus, as well as to and from campus car parks and local transport points. To access this service call 9479 2012. To contact security directly dial 9479 2222.

Victoria Police has requested that anyone with information should contact Crimestoppers (1800 333 000).

The Student Union is committed to working with the University to ensure and improve safety for all students and staff. We ask that all of us look after each other at this difficult time.
