The LTSU supports marriage equality. We believe that all people have the right to have their relationships treated with respect, dignity and equality under Australian marriage law.
At this stage, it looks like the postal survey on same-sex marriage is going ahead. Australians only have until August 24 to enrol to vote or to make sure their address is up to date with the AEC.
If you are an Australian citizen and 18+ years of age, make sure you enrol to vote and have your say, and help to make Australia a fairer, better place! There are lots of ways to enrol and it only takes a few minutes:
· Come into the Student Union. We have paper enrolment forms and we will help you to post or upload them!
· Try the single-page online enrolment form
· Complete and print a PDF form then return it to the AEC
· Pick up a form at any Australia Post or AEC office and return to the AEC.
We know there’s a LOT of discussion going on about the postal plebiscite and people can hold strong, unchangeable opinions. If you’ve experienced harassment, abuse or distress, or if you just need extra support during the marriage equality debate, there are services at La Trobe that can help:
